Alexandra Swe Wagner (born November 27, 1977) is an American journalist, author, and television host, known for her sharp political commentary and analysis. Raised in Washington, D.C., the daughter of a Burmese immigrant mother and a prominent Democratic political consultant father, Wagner graduated from Brown University before embarking on a diverse career that spanned music, human rights advocacy, and journalism. She served as editor-in-chief of The Fader magazine and as executive director of Not on Our Watch before transitioning fully into political reporting. Wagner gained widespread recognition as the host of Now with Alex Wagner (2011–2015) and later Alex Wagner Tonight (2022–2025) on MSNBC, where she has also served as a senior political analyst. Beyond MSNBC, she has been a co-host of Showtime's The Circus, a contributor for CBS News, a contributing editor at The Atlantic, and the host of the Netflix reboot of The Mole. Her 2018 book, FutureFace, explores her biracial heritage and the complexities of identity.
